Ana’s Journey with PFP

Leading Specialist at the Staff Office of the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee at the Parliament of Georgia

Ana completed her fellowship at the Greater American Leadership in New Orleans, Louisiana. The organization focuses on maximizing individual and community potential through Social, Educational, Emotional, Economic, and Cultural programs. During her fellowship, Ana worked on natural disaster-related issues, gaining insights into best practices for developing Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response plans, along with relevant legislation. During her fellowship, Ana developed a deeper understanding of these critical issues, which is vital for her role at the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.

She is currently engaged in developing climate law, particularly focusing on climate adaptation, which is closely linked to disaster preparedness and emergency response for climate-induced disasters. Additionally, the committee exercises its supervisory powers to oversee the work of the ministries and agencies responsible for developing the relevant adaptation and natural disaster preparedness and emergency response plans. PFP also allowed her to connect with people from various backgrounds and professions, engaging in discussions to find solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today. It reinforced Ana's understanding and motivation that, despite living in different countries, people share a common vision for a better future. She realized that we are all in this together and must work collectively to fight for a brighter tomorrow.

"The insights that I gained at the Greater American Leadership significantly enhanced my ability to perform my duties more effectively. The Professional Fellows Program was the perfect opportunity for me to learn from the U.S. experience, immerse myself in its wonderfully diverse culture, and forge new friendships."
